Crain’s BtoB Magazine Names Slack Barshinger
Among Top Midsize Agencies for 3rd Year in Row
Chicago-based firm makes magazine’s annual “Top Agencies” list for fifth time in six years
CHICAGO, April 9, 2007—For the third year in a row, Slack Barshinger, a leading business-to-business integrated marketing communications agency, has been named one of the top midsize agencies in the country by Crain’s BtoB magazine, the premier business marketing publication in the nation. The agency received an honorable mention in the magazine’s annual “Top Agencies” issue.
Slack Barshinger has won first-, second- or third-place honors on the magazine’s list a total of five times since 2001. The agency has been named number one in its class three times.
In honoring the firm, BtoB cited Slack Barshinger’s 2006 title of “Agency of the Year” given by the Business Marketing Association and 21 wins at the 2006 BMA/Chicago Tower Awards. Major efforts, such as Tellabs’ “Inspire the New Life” campaign, a trade show promotion for Aon and an integrated marketing communications program for W.W. Grainger Inc. were also highlighted. This past year the agency also opened a California office, led by the former head of business marketing at eBay, Jay Fiore.

Also in the midsize category, HSR Business to Business was named top agency, while Doremus received runner-up. In other categories, McCann Erickson received the top recognition among large agencies, while Ogilvy North America was runner-up and BBDO New York got an honorable mention. Mobium Creative Group took top small-agency honors; runner-up was PJA Advertising + Marketing; and honorable mention went to Stein Rogan + Partners. Modem Media won the top agency designation in the interactive field, with runner-up going to OTOi and honorable mention to Digitas.
